Stráže pod Tatrami

    The first official notice about Stráže pod Tatrami (Stráže bellow Tatras) is from the year 1300. The name "Stráže" is from the verb "guard" and implies that this settlement was used for guarding purposes.
    Historically the settlement developed in a "shade" of Spišská Sobota and Matejovce. Its population consisted mostly of farmers.

NOTE: Administrative part of the town Poprad.
